强生公司正在组织2012优秀研究生论文奖（Johnson & Johnson Asia Outstanding Graduate Thesis Award in Bio-tech）的评选，我院有两个参评名额。
请符合条件的同学积极申报，并根据相关要求做好准备。申请条件和材料要求请见附件，请有意申请的研究生将所有申请材料准备妥当后，务必于2012年2月20日前交生命科学学院学生工作办公室（生科楼165室，寒假期间不受理），过期不再受理。
学院将根据申请材料择优选送给奖项评审组。

A. About the Award:
a. “Johnson & Johnson Asia Outstanding Graduate Thesis Award in Bio-tech” is an annual award sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Corporate Office of Science and Technology (COSAT, www.jnjcosat.com). The award aims to promote and recognize the best graduate students in Asia who have made significant contributions in the field of bio-tech related to life sciences.
b. “Johnson & Johnson Asia Outstanding Graduate Thesis Award in Bio-tech” is comprised of 12 first place prizes (US$2,000 each) and 18 second place prizes (US $1,500) and a commemorative plaque. The awardees will be invited to a symposium to receive the award and present their research in a symposium in the second quarter of 2012 (detail to be announced later).
c. “Johnson & Johnson Asia Outstanding Graduate Thesis Award in Bio-tech” is administrated by Sino- American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SAPA, www.sapaweb.org). SAPA will be responsible for the assessment of award applications and final selection of awardees. SAPA will also help Johnson & Johnson COSAT to distribute the award in US dollars.
B. Eligibility:
a. The candidates must be full-time M.S. or Ph. D. students ready to defend their thesis from the selected university/institute. A student may be a recipient only once.
b. The research thesis should be based on independent high quality original research at the forefront of science.
C. Required Documents (all documents must be in English):
All required documents should be submitted in English as PDF format. The deadline for the submission of materials is March 1st, 2012.
a. A recommendation letter from the thesis advisor citing the specific contributions of the nominee in his/her thesis work and the significance of those contributions. It is highly desirable that the thesis advisor to provide specific information regarding how the candidate addressed the scientific challenges encountered during his/her research and developed a plan to solve the challenges.
b. A second recommendation letter containing the details on the quality of the research and its impact in advancing the science and technology in the subject field.
c. An abstract (up to 4 pages) prepared by the nominee describing his/her research. The abstract may include figures and references to provide enough information for the evaluation committee to judge the quality and impact of the thesis without the original document.
d. A copy of the nominee`s CV with a list of peer-reviewed publications by the candidate during his/her graduate research with impact factors (up to 2 pages).
D. Selection Process:
a. A special Selection Committee made up of researchers in the related fields from SAPA members will review and make the selection of candidates for the 1st and 2nd place award. All the submitted material will also be shared with Johnson & Johnson COSAT for documentation. Once the selections are made, the decision will be final.
b. SAPA and Johnson & Johnson COSAT will announce the final result in March / April 2012 through email notification to the universities/institutes. The formal award ceremony will be held in the second quarter of 2012. SAPA will announce more details about the award ceremony in near future.
